Private View protects you from accidental disclosure: Trippy then shows only the mood journal, with the Journal and Settings tabs, and ends the Live Activity. Turn it on in Settings → Privacy → Private View; turning it off asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
Everything is stored locally on your device in iOS’s standard sandboxed storage, and your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) include it. With iCloud Sync on, your journal also syncs encrypted through your private iCloud database. Deleting the app deletes the data on the device; any iCloud Sync copy stays until you delete it in your iCloud storage settings.
Yes, with iCloud Sync. It is optional and off by default: turn it on in Settings → Data → iCloud Sync. It needs an iCloud account and starts at the next launch. Your journal, mood data and a few settings then sync encrypted through your private iCloud database to your devices on the same Apple Account. Export Data and Import Data in Settings → Data still move a journal as a file, and Import Data also reads a PsychonautWiki Journal export. An import replaces your whole journal and can’t be undone, so Trippy first has you save an export of your current journal.
